Requirements
Holiday Farms requires that your dog has all its shots up to date.
- DH2PP
- Rabies
- Bordetella Canine Cough vaccine.
The Bordetella vaccine is not normally given by most Veterinarians unless they know the dog is going to be boarded. If your dog does not have the Bordetella Vaccine it should be given at least a week prior to coming. Young puppies often suffer the most sever complications from this virus as their immune systems are immature. There is also an increased risk for older dogs or dogs with pre-existing respiratory problems.
What is Bordetella (Canine Kennel Cough?)
Much like Covid 19, Kennel Cough is a highly contagious respiratory virus in dogs which is easily spread through the air and contact. The risk of getting kennel cough is higher when dogs are in a confined area with other dogs such as dog parks or kennels. Much like Covid 19, even though your dog has been vaccinated, there is still a chance they could get kennel cough.
Food
Holiday Farms supplies bowls for your dog however we do require that you supply your dog with their own food. Please no glass bowls or containers. We have a refrigerator to handle canned food and will feed your pet according to your instructions. The very best thing to bring your food in is the original dog food bag. If you bring a large bulky container it must be able to go in the kennel with the dog. The number one problem we run into is not enough food. If you bring the food in a bin we need to know what kind of food it is.
Bedding
At Holiday Farms we recommend you bring your dog’s favourite blanket from home. Please bring blankets or beds that can go in a washer. If your dog uses a crate, our kennels are large enough to handle them as well. Toys from home are also welcome.
